100 Days of Running!!!!!!!!!!

Day 100 - December 15, 2007

I have finally cracked into triple digits. It actually has been much easier to accomplish than I had imagined. In fact, at this point it is sort of routine, which is the point. There have been plenty of days where I would have taken off without the streak in place. The reality is I probably would have taken at least 40 days off based on past experience.

Sure plenty of people have mocked my short days where I only run 2 miles - as if there days off are somehow superior if they run similar weekly mileage in 4 or 5 days a week, but I don't care. I have had less injuries and need to take a week off (which they seem to need to do often). So why on a given week they may run as many miles - I wonder how they compare over a month or three?

The streak is working well for me - without it I probably would have been lucky to have 5 runs in this month so far. But instead, I've run 389 miles over a total of 47 hours and 50 minutes. Almost 2 full days worth of running! I am excited about that and am looking forward to running more miles through he winter and into the spring. Over the next 100 days, I will begin training for the Charlottesville 10 miler and begin a speed workout routine to make myself faster. I plan to run closer to 450 miles over the next 100 days and get myself closer to being on track to reach my goal of 4200 miles in 1000 days. I hope you will continue to follow my progress and maybe even drop me a comment or two now and then and tell me about your current running streaks. To my regular readers - thanks - and yes there are more than one of you.

Chris

Dear Mr. Bubble Burster, I can always count on you to remind me that it's not always all about me. Can I at least get credit as your longest 1000DOR subscriber? :)Congrats on 100 days. I'm looking forward to hearing about the next 900.
